Ash Wednesday Service

Join us for our 8-week Lenten worship series "From Shame to Glory: a Lenten journey to rewrite the story of your life" in our journey to Easter! Whether we realize it or not, shame affects every aspect of our personal lives and vocational endeavors. It seeks to destroy our identity in Christ, replacing it with a damaged version of ourselves that results in unhealed pain and brokenness. Together we will investigate Jesus' journey to the cross in the Gospel of Luke, informed by the therapeutic work of Curt Thompson's book, "The Soul of Shame." Throughout the series we will upack the impact of shame, revealing its pervasive nature and neuro-biological roots and discover the theological and practical tools necessary to dismantle shame. This worship series will help you identify your own pains and struggles, and find freedom from the lifelong negative messages that bind you. Rewriting the story of your life will help embrace healing and wholeness as you discover and defeat shame. Sermon Themes: March 3 - The Problem with Shame, March 6 (Ash Wednesday) - The Ashes of Shame. March 10 - How Shame Targets the Mind, March 17 - Joy, Shame and the Brain, March 24 - Shame and the Biblical Narrative, March 31 - The Story of Shame You are Living, April 7 - Shame's Remedy: Vulnerability, April 14 (Palm Sunday) - Our Healing Cloud of Witnesses, April 21 (Easter) - Glorious Day: Redeeming Shame
