Recipes of Faith: Dealing with Loss- Debbie Leaman

A Little About Debbie:

My name is Debbie Leaman. I am married to Harold (the love of my life). I have two incredible children, Robert and Stephanie (she is married to Tim), and two beautiful granddaughters Shannon and Anna. I have been blessed with so many wonderful people who call me Mom. I have been attending HTCC for over 12 years and became a member after 6 months. At my very first visit, Steve Morris and Glen Jared both came up to me before I even got into the church and gave me huge hugs, Steve said "Don’t know your name, but we know you are Robert’s Mom. Can we call you Mom?" For at least a year I was introduced as Robert’s Mom.

Debbie's Trial:

My sister passed into heaven. That was a struggle that I hope I never have to go through again, but I know that my father is in his last days. God has blessed me with my family for strength. Our small group came to the house and our home was filled with so much love and kindness that you would have thought heaven had opened up and all the Angels had come to be with me.

My HTCC Family:

My HTCC family and small group have been there for me and my family. The best thing we have ever done was open up our home to the love, friendship, kindness of our small group. I truly believe God uses us as His disciples; I have seen this in my own life and try myself to bring a little sunshine and care wherever I can.

Debbie's Take-a-Way:

If there is one thing that I would want to pass on to others it is that you should find a place in God's church where you can get to know others, and find a group to open up yourself up to love and join in the fellowship. If it wasn’t for our small group I am not so sure I would have gotten to know my friends that have been a huge part of my journey!

Debbie's Favorite Verses:

Isaiah 40:31: "But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.they will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."
